I aim to emphasize the detail and sublime beauty of nature. . In my artwork i try to create simple and minimalist images that are detailed and clean. I began working with watercolor about a year ago because it can be easily changed and layered. I work from light to dark values and experiment with bleeding colors together to create a gradient effect. It has been a challenge trying to control the pigmentation and shade of the paint, especially because watercolor is such a thin medium. Working from dry to wet paint gives me more control and allows more time for me to add in other colors. I will apply a very pigmented stroke of color to the page, drag it out with a clean brush to create a new form.

I have found that adding semi wet stokes of water to the paint creates light hues. This gives parts of the painting an unfinished look that contrasts with detail, which is one of my favorite elements of my work.
My work tends to focus on nature, and its interaction with detail. I have always had an interest in scenery and nature and I recently begun to include it in my artwork, drawing from old photos to create something that is my own. In the past, it has been difficult for me to create art with meaning but what i have found is that like to draw inspiration from are the places that I have traveled to or hope to travel to in the future. I have an appreciation for architecture and how it works with nature. In my work, I seek to explore that connection and interplay between art nouveau and geometric design through a variation of media forms |
